With its origins steeped in mystery, the history of Tubogas must be understood through the lens of the technical innovations it brought to the jewelry avant-gardes.
It seems that between the two world wars, the gas connection pipes of cities, or even the side exhaust pipes of certain prestigious sport car models, introduced the term “gas pipe”, and then “Tubogas”, in the language of jewelry.
The flexibility of these metal bands turned out to be incredible, offering various possibilities of interpretations, from which Bvlgari took advantage throughout the second half of the twentieth century.
From the first Art Deco experimentations to the daring creativity of the next decades, let’s rediscover a technique of industrial origins which has become an icon of Made-in-Italy design.
