Discover the work of Hervé Obligi, glyptic engraver and hardstone marquetry artisan, a master of his craft for over thirty years.
Working with Australian jasper, Chinese jade, Afghan lapis lazuli or pietersite, he shapes unique pieces where each mineral is chosen for its colour, beauty and potential. Invited by the house of Cartier in Tokyo, he created a contemporary marquetry piece around the panther, inspired by an image of the building he was in.
A way of taking an art traditionally associated with sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Florence towards a resolutely modern aesthetic.
