In the fascinating world of jewellery, the themes explored are as rich and diverse as the galaxies orbiting within the planetary system that GemGenève has so brilliantly created. A true cultural event, GemGenève offers exhibitors and visitors a deep dive into the jewellery universe, while also shedding light on the industry’s current challenges.
Anne Desmarest de Joptemps has brought all these elements together in one space: the 7th season of the podcast Il était une fois… le bijou, this time dedicated to the voices of GemGenève.
For the first time, GemGenève welcomes the Jewellery and Gemstone Association of Africa (JGAA). In this episode, she speaks with Longo Mulaisho-Zinsner, founder of the association, about the vital role of African jewellery design.
Longo Mulaisho-Zinsner highlights the importance of promoting jewellery creation in Africa as a way to support women in their path to empowerment, by showcasing their expertise and craftsmanship. She also shares her personal journey and what led her to take on the role of Head of Strategy at both the JGAA and Africa Jewellery Week.
The JGAA offers its members mentoring and training opportunities, covering jewellery design, gemstone education, and economic development across the African continent. Longo Mulaisho-Zinsner works closely with Dr Gaetano Cavalieri (World Jewellery Confederation – CIBJO) and Dr KY Amoako (Africa Centre for Economic Transformation), in a collaborative and forward-thinking initiative.
