Together Vivienne Becker and Helen Molesworth discuss the role of the Museum Collection, as both education and inspiration, in our jewellery world today. They will talk about the relevance of jewellery history to contemporary design, the importance of looking back in order to look forward, of understanding what has gone before in order to be truly innovative. They will also discuss today’s fast-growing appreciation of antique and 20th century jewellery, and Vivienne will ask Helen about her new role at the V&A and how she plans to fuse antiquity and modernity, to be part of the continuum of the long and fascinating story of jewellery.
